We developed the concept of BCCU (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Usage) as strategy to get our hands on reducing atmospheric CO2 concentration. The advantage of BCCU over other strategies is to allow for a diversity of new business models with the support of governments to reach national climate plans.
BCCU creates value while most other climate strategies costs money and consumes resources.
From the biomass created by microalgae such as Spirulina, we go into several value chains with the most interesting product lines as the following:
As 60-70 % of Spirulina biomass consists of pure protein with nearly the same bioavailability as egg protein – including all essential amino acids, we identified the business branch “CarbonFood” as our first focus.
For agricultural purposes or afforestation projects in the tropics, we develop a new generation of probiotic biofertilizers in collaboration with academic partners. Use of biofertilizers for farming is strongly supported by European Union.
Biopharmaceuticals & Dietary Supplements
There are numerous scientific reports of Spirulina being antiviral & anti-bacterial, antidiabetic, antihypertensive and anti-inflammatory. Furthermore, Spirulina is reported to reduce oxidative stress and to improve excretion of heavy metals. We will launch microalgal extracts or pills validated on human cells.
