About Us

WHO WE ARE

Carbon Biotech AG is a new sustainability and socially oriented biotechnology enterprise located in Senftenberg, Germany. The company was founded by the UB-ONE Foundation and is based on technologies developed at the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), Germany.
Carbon Biotech’s team combines the knowledge of outstanding experts possessing decades of professional experience in industry and science with the spirit and creativity of members of the younger generation who are striving to make a change.
“It is the duty of the old generation to empower the next to repair of damages they had done on planet earth.’’
Dr. Donald Streets

WHAT WE DO

Carbon Biotech has been developing a microalgae biotech platform and incubator to revolutionize high-profile value chains with sustainable and renewable products across future industries.
We use microalgae grown in closed or open bioreactors in combination with our high-power carbon dioxide fixation system 2SCTM to capture atmospheric carbon into microorganism biomass.

The resulting 2SCTM of biomass is highly valuable to carbon-based value chains, which are processed into impact-driven products. Furthermore, we work on long-term sequestration of atmospheric carbon to help achieving the Paris Climate Agreement goals. Our process is called BCCU – Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Usage.

Carbon Biotech’s goal is to fully realize our BCCU process by focussing on R&D, BCCU coordination on an international scale, commercialization of impact-driven products – and in the future also as BCCU investor.

WHY WE DO IT

We are on a mission to fully realize BCCU through our algae processing platform for both value chain generation and long-term atmospheric carbon sequestration. BCCU can also play a substantial role in substituting petro chemistry and our dependence on oil.

The current status quo of resource usage is unacceptable. Our main goal is to substantially contribute to the mitigation of global warming.

Our goal is to offer the next generations a life on earth as beautiful, alive and blossoming as the previous generations have enjoyed. This is our responsibility and our legacy.

HOW WE DO IT

We are combining a cutting-edge technology with a new, innovative business model and company structure. This together has the potential to help mitigating global warming, offer far-reaching social benefits as well as pay substantial commercial dividends – a truly sustainable model.

WHY GERMANY

Germany is still the 6th largest producer of anthropogenic* (man-made) CO2 but simultaneously acts as a role model for the structural change towards green energy and clean production.

Nationally, the country focuses on the path of meeting the demands of German Climate Action Plan 2050, which includes industrial decarbonization. Germany is investing in and hosting a variety of high technology research, initiating a country-wide shift of focus onto the mitigation of climate change.

“Made in Germany” will mean high-quality research and product development in fair partnership and to be made accessible for the rest of the world.
